How can agencies shape culture if their teams don’t represent the people creating it?

At Smarts, we know how important it is for everyone to feel included. That’s why we’ve launched Smarts AllTogether — our DE&I group dedicated to creating a workplace where everyone can bring their whole selves to work.

This National Inclusion Week, created time for us to stop, think and learn.

Stop and make time in our busy working days.

💭 Think about the adversities others face as our colleagues bravely shared their experiences.

✍️ And learn how we can do things differently to be supportive allies.

We hosted activities focused on five key areas of inclusion. Here’s just a few things we got up to…

Hidden Disabilities: An Hour In Our Shoes

Through sharing personal stories, key facts and social experiments, some of our brave colleagues helped us understand what it’s like to live with a hidden disability in the workplace.

Race & Ethnicity: What’s in a Name?

Via a fun interactive storytelling session led, we explored the significance of our names, their role in shaping our identity and sensitivities around spellings, pronunciations, and more.

LGBTQIA+: ‘Queer Stories’

Through Episode 1 of our brand-new brand-new series diving into queer topics, we explored the meaning behind LGBTQIA+ terminology and how trans and non-binary people are represented in the media.

Gender: ‘Gender Reveal’

Through a quick-fire interactive survey, we uncovered what we truly knew about gender equality and equity.

Social Mobility: ‘Breaking Through Class Ceilings’:

And on our final day of National Inclusion Week, we uncovered some shocking stats surrounding working class people in creative industries through a series of interactive polls and a ‘digital gallery’.
