The Senior Communications Consultant will work closely with the Client Partner in Amsterdam in managing a portfolio of lifestyle brands, covering a variety of assignments across brand communication (PR/comms, talent & influencer, partnerships, and events), including cultural strategy, internal engagement, social strategy, creative content development, account management, and activation.

As an expert in earned media and attuned to cultural conversations, they will have a track record of working on standout integrated strategies and campaigns, the ability to deliver innovative thinking, craft smart decks, and lead projects, teams, and clients. Integral to the team, they will work alongside our Senior Leadership Team to build client relationships, provide counsel, and drive business growth. There will also be opportunities to contribute to pitches.

Location: Amsterdam (hybrid)

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Own client relationships. Lead the work with the client(s), ensuring strong relationships, efficient collaboration, and the delivery of high-standard work.
  • Team and project management. Lead the project teams for each account.
  • Drive efficient collaboration with leads of the specialties practices (Strategy, Influencer/Talent, Culture, PR/Earned Media, and Experiential) to bring best-in-class thinking to every client assignment.
  • Develop and lead innovative thinking for each client/brand while infusing Smarts’ unique POV, award-worthy programs, and high-quality execution/management.
  • Be a leading and proactive voice during client and inter-agency meetings by representing Smarts and leading all Smarts-owned workstreams.
  • Ongoing business development and growth within the portfolio based on key client relationships, opportunistic pitches, ideation, and overall quality/health of the business.
  • Work with client partners on positioning, marketing, and relationships of the agency to support overall growth.

Experience & Qualifications:

  • At least 7+ years of experience relevant to the role and industry with strong work examples and references demonstrating an exemplary account lead who can maintain positive client relationships, deliver strategic counsel, and successfully troubleshoot client and internal issues.
  • Experience with multi-faceted/integrated campaigns and comfort leading senior client conversations.
  • Must have relevant experience in the PR, talent & influencer marketing space and knowledge of social/digital marketing.
  • Ability to bring creativity and outside-the-box thinking to deliver impactful strategies and activations.
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills along with the proven ability to consistently make sound judgments and effectively motivate and manage teams.
  • Strong collaborator and mentor with the ability to bring out the best in agency talent and resources to produce great work for clients.
  • Switched on to the wider world, the news agenda, and cultural conversations, on social and beyond.
  • Excellent knowledge of the European media landscape.
